How we Manage a High-Volume of Applications

Recruitment: How we Manage a High-Volume of Applications

We receive thousands of applications per day. How to ensure yours gets seen?

Did you know we get thousands of applications a day for open positions? Because of this, we understand the challenges both job seekers and those who are hiring face.

Online portals make applying to online vacancies more and more accessible, so job seekers must have a robust CV, and recruiters must optimise their hours to find the best candidate for the role. Not only this, but in specific industries, there is a shortage of talent, especially talent that specific hiring managers are looking for. For example, IT or Finance industries. This can cause a build-up of a lot of CVs, a tedious search, and frustrations for hiring managers.

As part of our role, recruiters have to sift through thousands of applications, and with limited hours in the day, it can be difficult to give everyone who applies personalised feedback. This is especially true during a market downturn – for example, in a recession, we would start receiving more and more CVs, leading to less and less time for recruiters to get back to each and every candidate with specific feedback.

Therefore, as a job seeker, there are a number of things you can do to take steps to ensuring your CV gets noticed by recruiters, like us, who receive thousands of applications per day. This includes:

  • Have a robust CV. Ensure your CV is up-to-date, keyword friendly and formatted properly. Ensure that there are no spelling and punctuation errors as well! Having these will immediately disqualify you from your CV being seen.
  • Only apply for relevant roles that you are qualified for. Doing so will ensure you are properly optimising your time, and not wasting the recruiter’s time as well.
  • Try direct message! Have a look through LinkedIn and reach out to recruiters directly with your CV and a short description about why you are right for the role. But again, ensure it is a relevant role you are qualified for. This will increase the probability that the recruiter will reply!

In an ideal world, recruiters would have the time to reply to all applicants with specific feedback, but as you can imagine, this can get challenging with thousands of applicants. Unfortunately, we can typically only give feedback to candidates who move forward in the hiring process. With limited hours, and a lean team, our job is to place the right candidate in the right role for our clients.

This is especially the case with our two industry focuses – Financial Services and Emiratisation. As these two focuses are highly competitive for candidates; our goal is to find and place candidates for our clients that will thrive in the organisation and role for a long time to come.

For hiring managers and company business owners who are hiring: we also understand the challenges you are facing. It can get tough sifting through the thousands of applicants you receive on a single job vacancy. But don’t worry – we take care of these challenges for you. With our vast database and recruitment specialists, we ensure we find the right candidate for your role, so you have more of your time back to focus on what is important to your business.
